Tour de Kyushu 2026 Preview: Three Days Across Japan’s Southern Island

Tour de Kyushu 2026 sends riders across the volcanic interior and coastal roads of Japan's southern island. Cumulative climbing and modest time gaps reward consistency.

Tour de Kyushu 2026

Tour de Kyushu returns for its fourth edition with a multi-stage route that crosses the volcanic terrain of Japan’s largest southern island. The race was created in 2023 to showcase Kyushu’s recovery from recent natural disasters and has established itself as a growing fixture on the Asian cycling calendar. Kyrylo Tsarenko won the 2025 GC after controlling the race across stages in Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Oita. The 2026 edition expands to cover five prefectures, and the rolling interior roads with their short, punchy climbs reward riders who can recover overnight and avoid bad days. Specific startlist details are still developing, as the race sits late enough in the calendar that team commitments are confirmed closer to the event.
