The 2026 Dwars door het Hageland was not run as a one-day race. In March the organizer announced that the race would no longer stand on its own and would become part of the Baloise Belgium Tour, without its usual finish on the Citadel of Diest. In April the UCI refused permission to use the gravel roads in the stage race, WielerFlits reported, citing Het Belang van Limburg. Paul Magnier, who won in 2025, remains the most recent winner of the one-day race.
