Giro d’Italia 2026 Preview | Route, Stages, Startlist, Favorites
Updated Giro d'Italia 2026 preview with official route dates, all 21 stages, full startlist, and current favorites.
The Giro d’Italia 2026 is now underway, with the route corrected around the official 21-stage schedule from Bulgaria to Rome. The race opened on May 8 and finishes on May 31, with rest days after stages 3, 9, and 15.
The GC picture is built around Jonas Vingegaard, with Giro route notes and the official favorites article also putting Giulio Pellizzari, Felix Gall, Ben O’Connor, Egan Bernal, Thymen Arensman, Michael Storer, Adam Yates, Santiago Buitrago, and Enric Mas into the wider podium conversation.
The current startlist has been rebuilt from the official Giro team pages: 184 riders across 23 teams. That removes the old provisional 72-rider list and gives the startlist page a full race roster.
The route has one long individual time trial, at stage 10 from Viareggio to Massa, and its hardest GC pressure comes from Blockhaus, Corno alle Scale, Pila, Cari, Alleghe, and Piancavallo. The sprint days now have current favorites attached too, led by Paul Magnier, Jonathan Milan, Kaden Groves, Casper Van Uden, Dylan Groenewegen, Arnaud De Lie, and Pascal Ackermann.
Sources checked for this refresh: official route, official teams, and the Giro’s Maglia Rosa favorites.
