Stage 8 is the queen stage: 101 km from Rivoli to Sestriere via the Colle delle Finestre before the summit finish.
Route and profile
The first half is manageable. The second half is not. Finestre is long, steep, and partly gravel before the race even reaches the final climb to Sestriere.
How the stage could race
If the GC is close, this is the day to race it from distance. Even a controlled favorite group should arrive shattered by the time the route turns toward Sestriere.
Who it suits
A top-end GC climber with both endurance and tactical nerve is the clear favorite profile.

The current preliminary startlist is still incomplete, but the riders already listed who best fit this stage are Demi Vollering, Sarah Gigante, Elisa Longo Borghini.
