Tour of Slovenia 2026 returns to the Julian Alps for five stages of genuine mountain racing. Anders Halland Johannessen defends the title, following an extraordinary run by Pogacar (2021-2023) and Martinez (2024).

The race rewards complete stage racers who can climb steep Alpine gradients and time trial well. With many riders using Slovenia as pre-Tour preparation, the field usually punches above its ProSeries weight class. Johannessen brings defending form. Tiberi and Pellizzari are rising Italian GC talents suited to steep climbs. Uijtdebroeks has the climbing ability. Gall is a proven Alpine climber. Storer knows how to ride this level of stage race.
