The Surf Coast Classic is a two-day women's stage race held in mid-January along Australia's southern coast. Part of the ProSeries calendar, it serves as an early-season test on roads that wind between coastal towns and inland climbs in the Geelong region.

Surf Coast Classic 2026 route overview

2 stages

The race typically unfolds across two stages with contrasting demands. One stage usually features rolling coastal roads where positioning and wind management matter as much as raw power, while the other tests climbing or time-trialing ability. The winner needs to be alert on both days. The race has to be shaped before the final acceleration, not simply left to the last decisive section on its own. Teams that can control the first stage and defend on the second, or vice versa, tend to come out ahead. The compact format means there is little room for error or recovery, and the January heat along Victoria's Surf Coast can add another layer of attrition.
