Tour of Huangshan 2026 preview: stages, startlist, and GC favorites

Tour of Huangshan returns September 18-21 for its fourth edition in Anhui province. The mountainous terrain rewards pure climbers, with defending champion Daniel Cavia setting the standard in 2025.

Tour of Huangshan 2026 is still building its identity as one of the premier stage races on the Asian calendar. Three editions in, the winners list (Daniel Cavia, Roman Maikin, Julien Trarieux) shows the race rewards genuine climbing ability rather than time trial power or positioning.

The Anhui province terrain delivers real mountains. The granite peaks and steep valley roads of the Huangshan range create stages where the GC is decided on gradient, not tactics. For continental riders, this is one of the more testing climbs available outside of the European mountain stage races.

The field typically draws from Asian and Continental teams along with European ProTeam squads looking for racing in this part of the calendar.

2026 outlook

Daniel Cavia won the 2025 GC across Huangshan's mountainous terrain. The 2026 edition returns to Anhui province for four days of racing where at least one summit finish and sustained climbing stages create genuine GC separation. The race remains relatively young, having debuted in 2023, and the field is still developing its identity.
