Tour de France Femmes 2027 stage 9: Puy de Dôme finish

The 2027 Tour de France Femmes ends on the Puy de Dôme: 170 km, about 3,840 meters of climbing and the last 4 km at about 12 percent.

Stage 9 of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes runs 170 km from Clermont-Ferrand to the Puy de Dôme on Saturday, August 7, the longest stage of the race, with about 3,840 meters of climbing, the most of any day. The Tour finishes on the summit.

The official race account called it the longest and toughest stage of the race, with the finish at the summit. The last 4 km of the climb average about 12 percent.

The Puy de Dôme is a volcano that the men’s Tour has climbed several times; in 1964 Jacques Anquetil and Raymond Poulidor rode side by side almost to the top. Michael Woods won the men’s stage there in 2023, after 35 years without a Tour visit.

It is the first time the women’s Tour has finished on the volcano. Demi Vollering won the 2026 race by 1 minute 18 seconds from Kasia Niewiadoma, and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot won in 2025. Whoever leads going into the final stage has to defend it on a climb the women’s race has never used.
