Tour de France Femmes 2027 route overview

The Tour de France Femmes is won through climbing power above all, but the compressed format leaves little room for recovery or tactical patience. The race typically opens with flatter stages that favor sprinters and positioning, then builds toward mountain stages in the Vosges, the Pyrenees, the Alps or on Mont Ventoux that separate the overall contenders. A time trial often appears mid-race or late, rewarding all-rounders and punishing pure climbers. Because the race runs only nine days, every stage carries outsize consequences. Crashes, splits, and small time gaps in the opening days can decide the final podium. The mountain finishes are climbs the men's Tour made famous: the Tourmalet in 2023, Alpe d'Huez in 2024 and Mont Ventoux in 2026. The yellow jersey frequently changes hands, and every edition so far has been decided in its last two stages.

Demi Vollering won the 2026 race by 1 minute 18 seconds from Kasia Niewiadoma, her second title after 2023. The 2027 route has no individual time trial, so the team time trial in London is the only race against the clock. The high mountains come late: the first summit finish is stage 7, and the hardest day is the last.
