AlUla Tour 2027 preview

The AlUla Tour 2027 is a UCI ProSeries stage race at AlUla, Saudi Arabia, from January 25 to 29. That is two days earlier than in 2026, when the race ran from January 27 to 31. The organizer has not published the 2027 route.

Wind split the peloton on three of the five stages in 2026. On the opening loop from the Camel Cup track a change of direction left 18 riders in front, and they still had 10 seconds at the last kilometer, enough for Jonathan Milan to win the sprint. Jan Christen crashed twice that day and was not in the front group. Milan won again the next day. On stage 4 the echelons caught out Sergio Higuita, then six seconds off the lead, and his group rode a minute behind until a headwind let the race come back together. Matteo Malucelli came past Milan to win the sprint that followed.

The first uphill finish came on stage 3, six kilometers up to Bir Jaydah Mountain Wirkah. Christen attacked with three kilometers to go and was caught, riding into a headwind. Yannis Voisard passed Afonso Eulálio in the last meters, won the stage and took the lead, four seconds ahead of Eulálio and six ahead of Higuita.

The last stage ran 164 kilometers from AlUla Old Town to the Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid, over a climb of 2.9 kilometers at 12 percent that topped out nine kilometers from the finish. Voisard was dropped on it. Higuita, who had crashed at kilometer 88, attacked on the steepest part and went over the top with Mauri Vansevenant and Byron Munton. On the road to the finish Christen joined them, attacked alone and won by 11 seconds from Munton. He was 21, and the overall win, ahead of Higuita and his own teammate Igor Arrieta, was his first in a stage race. Voisard finished sixth.

The climb to the Skyviews was not the last stage in 2025: that race ended at the Camel Cup track, where Tom Pidcock was crowned the winner, and a similar loop opened the 2026 race.
