Women’s Tour Down Under 2027 preview
The 2027 Women's Tour Down Under is three stages from Friday, January 22, to Sunday, January 24, in South Australia. It has moved to the last three days of the men's race, and the women ride the same course over the same distance on the same day, starting at 12:10 in the afternoon, 90 minutes after the men. No WorldTour race had done that before. In 2026 the women raced from January 17 to 19, and the men's race began the day after.
Stage 1 runs 144.7 kilometers from Glenelg to Victor Harbor over Chandlers Hill, with Nettle Hill near the finish. Stage 2, 116.4 kilometers from Christies Beach, begins with the 10-kilometer climb of Coxs Hill and ends with Willunga Hill twice: 3 kilometers at 7.4 percent, down Penny's Hill Road, and up again to the finish.
Stage 3 is 136.2 kilometers from Norwood over Norton Summit, Ashton and Checker Hill, which is 600 meters long at an average of 14.2 percent, and ends with a lap through Stirling and its 2.1-kilometer climb. The three stages add up to 397.3 kilometers, the longest women's race in the event's history.
Noemi Rüegg won in 2025 and again in 2026, the first rider to win two in a row since Amanda Spratt won three. In 2026 Ally Wollaston won the first two stages and led the race into the last day, a hillier stage of 126.5 kilometers from Norwood to Campbelltown. A small group went clear there, Rüegg and three riders of UAE Team ADQ. She covered their attacks and won the sprint, and with it the race, ahead of Mavi García and Paula Blasi.
In 2027 the summit finish comes on the second day, and the last stage still has Checker Hill and the climb into Stirling.
