The Côte du Cap Blanc-Nez, 900 m at 7.7 percent, comes about 12 km from the finish, according to CyclingUpToDate. The coast is open to the wind, and a crosswind can split the bunch before that climb.

Calais hosted a men’s stage finish in 2022, when Wout van Aert won stage 4 from Dunkirk. There is no rest day in the women’s race, so the peloton spends the Monday after the London time trial on the road.

Places on the route, in order: Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, Opal Coast, Calais.

Start: Le Touquet-Paris-Plage

Le Touquet-Paris-Plage is a seaside resort on the Opal Coast at the mouth of the Canche, named Paris-Plage in 1882. The men's Tour started a time trial here in 1976, won by Freddy Maertens, and began a stage to Lille here in 2014, which Marcel Kittel won.

Finish: Calais

Calais is France's busiest passenger port for ferries to England, and it is known for lace and for Rodin's Burghers of Calais. The men's Tour finished here in 2022, when Wout van Aert won stage 4 from Dunkirk in the yellow jersey.
