Clasica de Almeria 2027 preview
The Clásica de Almería 2027 is on Sunday, February 14, in Roquetas de Mar. The organizer has not published the route or the start time. In 2026 the route was announced on January 27, a little more than two weeks before the race.
The 2026 race, the 39th, went from Puebla de Vícar to Roquetas de Mar on Sunday, February 15, over nearly 190 kilometers. The route had a hillier first half, with the bulk of the climbs that counted for the mountains classification, and a flatter final part that led to a city circuit in Roquetas with a last lap of barely six kilometers. Five riders escaped early and built a lead of more than five and a half minutes, and the peloton was back together with 24 kilometers to go.
Milan Fretin, the 2025 winner, was out of the peloton 18 kilometers from the finish with a mechanical problem, and his teammates had to bring him back. Multiple crashes in the final 15 kilometers took down numerous riders. Biniam Girmay's team took control of the front inside the final kilometer: Lewis Askey led into the last corner, Hugo Hofstetter took over, and Girmay launched his sprint and kept his lead to the line.
It was Girmay's second win of 2026. Fretin was second. Matteo Moschetti was placed third on the day and Dylan Groenewegen, a bit out of position in the sprint, fourth. Nine days later the jury reviewed the photo finish and swapped the two: Groenewegen is third in the UCI's final result and Moschetti fourth.
