Dwars door Vlaanderen 2027 preview

Dwars door Vlaanderen 2027 is on Wednesday, March 31. The organizer has published the date, and not the start and finish towns, the route or the start time.

The 2026 race, the 80th, ran about 185 kilometers from Roeselare to Waregem on April 1. It broke up early: on the Berg ten Houte, after 75 kilometers, a group of 18 went clear with Mads Pedersen, Christophe Laporte and Matthew Brennan in it, and the rest needed until 84 kilometers from the finish to bring it back.

For a long time it looked like Wout van Aert's race. On the descent of the Hotond three riders, Romain Grégoire among them, took 30 seconds, and Van Aert crossed to them in one acceleration on the Eikenberg. On the Nokereberg he dropped Grégoire, and with 10 kilometers to go he left his last companion, Larsen of Unibet Rose Rockets, behind. He was five seconds ahead entering the last kilometer.

Filippo Ganna had changed bikes twice during the race, with a broken wheel and a broken handlebar, and had still got back to the front. He rode away from the bunch in the final kilometers, passed Van Aert in the last meters and held off the sprinters, who came in a second behind him with Søren Wærenskjold third. It was Ganna's first win in the race.
