Figueira Champions Classic 2027 preview

The Figueira Champions Classic 2027 is on Sunday, February 14, in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. The race closes a two-day weekend that opens on Saturday, February 13, with the Champions Day, for amateur riders and families on the official course.

The 2026 race was cut from 192.7 to 177.8 kilometers because of strong winds on the coast. The kilometers came out of the opening section, before the finishing circuits over two climbs, the Rua Parque Florestal and the Enforca Cães.

On the last ascent of the Rua Parque Florestal, inside the final 20 kilometers, Brandon McNulty pulled hard at the front and six riders joined him, among them his teammate António Morgado and Alex Aranburu. The seven had 27 seconds with 14 kilometers left. Six teams put a rider in the chase at the front of a peloton of around 50, which had the group in view and could not bring it back.

Aranburu attacked on the Enforca Cães with 7 kilometers to go, Morgado countered, and the two pulled away. Aranburu mostly sat on Morgado's wheel until the flat final kilometer and was the first to sprint, 200 meters from the line. Morgado came alongside and won, for the second time in a row in this race. Pau Martí was third, nine seconds later.
