Giro dell’Emilia

The race is built around the San Luca climb in Bologna. The 2-kilometer ascent averages around 10% gradient through the famous porticoes and is tackled multiple times on the closing circuit. Each lap further thins the field. The decisive move usually comes on the final or penultimate ascent, with the gradient too steep for all but the strongest climbers and puncheurs.
