Edition briefing

Tour of Slovakia 2026: five stages from Košice to Kráľova hoľa

The 70th Tour of Slovakia runs September 16 to 20 over five stages. Its route starts with a Košice circuit, crosses the country through Levoča, Liptovský Mikuláš and Galanta, then finishes on Kráľova hoľa.

The 70th Tour of Slovakia opens in Košice on September 16 and reaches its decisive summit finish at Kráľova hoľa four days later. The official route moves from a 162.6 km opening circuit to progressively longer days: Levoča to Liptovský Mikuláš, Tvrdošín to Dohňany, and Beluša to Galanta all exceed 180 km. That layout lets the race develop before the final mountain day asks the overall contenders to show their hand.

The last stage from Sliač to Kráľova hoľa is 147.4 km and includes four categorized climbs, with the final ascent giving the race its clearest GC reference. By contrast, the 197.5 km Beluša to Galanta stage has no categorized climb and should change the tempo of the week. The contrast matters: the strongest climber still needs a team that can protect position on the longer transitional days, while riders who have lost time earlier have one obvious place to attack the classification.

Supporting preview analysis

Okolo Slovenska runs September 16-19 with four stages across Slovakia. The opening team time trial and medium-mountain road stages reward teams with depth and riders who can climb selectively.

2026 outlook

The race is built around contrast: long, exposed road stages establish the hierarchy, while the Kráľova hoľa finish gives climbers a final chance to turn that hierarchy upside down.
