Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Women 2027 preview
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Women is raced on Saturday, February 27, 2027, the same day as the men's race. The riders set off from Ghent and finish in Ninove. Both arrangements run past 2027: Ghent has the start of the men's and the women's race through 2031, and the line stays on the Elisabethlaan in Ninove until at least 2028. The 2027 route and start time have not been published.
In 2026 the race was 137 kilometers long, and two climbs had been added late in the route. After the Berendries, 33.5 kilometers from the finish, came Tenbosse and the Parikeberg, then the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Bosberg. From the Bosberg it was 11.8 flat kilometers to Ninove.
Demi Vollering, the European champion, won that race, and it turned on the road into Geraardsbergen. With 19 kilometers to go a crash brought down many riders, and a rider behind Lotte Kopecky, the 2023 winner, crashed into her derailleur. She changed bikes just before the Muur and finished 39th. On the Vesten, the flatter first part of the climb, Franziska Koch set the pace for Vollering, her teammate, and caught the breakaway. Vollering attacked on the steepest part, and only Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, who had dropped her chain shortly before the climb, could go with her.
The two rode together over the Bosberg and had a tailwind to Ninove. Vollering had three teammates in the group behind, and Niewiadoma-Phinney had none. Vollering led into the finishing straight, started her sprint 150 meters from the line and won. Lorena Wiebes took third place 21 seconds later.
It was Vollering's seventh start in the race, after a second place in 2022 and a third in 2025. In 2025 the Muur came too late to matter for the win: the early breakaway still had more than six minutes on the approach to it, and Lotte Claes won from that group. Four riders have won the women's Omloop twice, the latest of them Annemiek van Vleuten in 2020 and 2022, and nobody has won it three times.
