Paris-Roubaix 2027 preview
Paris-Roubaix 2027 is on Sunday, April 11. The organizer has published the date, and not the route or the start time.
The 2026 race ran 258.3 kilometers from Compiègne to the André-Pétrieux velodrome in Roubaix, with 30 cobbled sectors. The first, from Troisvilles to Inchy, came after 95.8 kilometers, the Trouée d'Arenberg after 163, Mons-en-Pévèle after 209.7 and the Carrefour de l'Arbre 17 kilometers from the finish.
It was a race of punctures and mechanical problems. Tadej Pogačar took a spare bike from neutral service with 121 kilometers to go, fell nearly a minute behind, and was back at the front 98 kilometers from the finish with the help of three teammates. In the Arenberg mechanical problems made Mathieu van der Poel stop as many as three times, and he came out of the forest over two minutes behind the front of the race. Pogačar and Wout van Aert both punctured in the sector from Warlaing to Brillon, the second flat of the day for each, and both came back.
The winning move came 53 kilometers from the finish, in sector 12, between Auchy-lez-Orchies and Bersée. Van Aert and Pogačar accelerated there and rode clear, and Mads Pedersen could not quite stay on their wheel. Their lead was 42 seconds at Mons-en-Pévèle. On the Carrefour de l'Arbre Pogačar accelerated to try to drop Van Aert, who rode defensively and stayed with him, and the chasers were 40 seconds behind.
On the velodrome Van Aert started the sprint with 200 meters to go and won clearly. He had been second in 2022 and third in 2023, and his win ended a run of 42 participations without one in the men's race for his team, going back to 1984. Jasper Stuyven attacked 3 kilometers from the finish and took third place, a few meters ahead of Van der Poel and Christophe Laporte.
