Strade Bianche 2027

For 2026 the organizer made the race lighter. Two gravel sectors in the first half, La Piana and Serravalle, came out, which left 14 sectors and cut the white roads from 82 kilometers in 2025 to 66. The change was meant to make the race slightly less selective and more open. The finale stayed as it was: Colle Pinzuto and Le Tolfe twice, then the Via Santa Caterina up into Siena and the finish on Piazza del Campo.

The race was decided where it had been decided before. The early break was caught before Monte Sante Marie, and Jan Christen then lifted the pace for UAE Team Emirates-XRG until nine riders were left. On the sector, 11.5 kilometers of gravel that run mostly uphill, Tadej Pogačar rode clear with 78.5 kilometers to go. Paul Seixas, 19 and riding the race for the first time, chased him and came close before Pogačar accelerated again. Seixas said afterward that he had been 500 meters short.

Pogačar rode alone to Siena and won by a minute, his fourth win and one more than Fabian Cancellara. Behind him Seixas attacked on the second ascent of Colle Pinzuto, took only Isaac del Toro with him, and dropped Pogačar's teammate on the Via Santa Caterina for second place. No rider that young had finished on the podium before. Tom Pidcock, the 2023 winner, dropped his chain twice on Monte Sante Marie.

Pogačar has won the last four editions he started: 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Whether he comes back for a fifth is open. He crashed out of the 2026 Vuelta a España on stage 8 with a broken collarbone and a fractured vertebra, and his season ended there.
