Tirreno-Adriatico 2027 preview

The 2027 Tirreno-Adriatico runs from Monday, March 8, to Sunday, March 14. The organizer has published the dates and not the route.

The 2026 race, the 61st, went from a time trial on the seafront at Lido di Camaiore to San Benedetto del Tronto, without the mountain summit finish of the editions before it. In its place came a 5.3-kilometer gravel sector at the end of the stage to San Gimignano and a run of short, steep climbs in the Marche. The total climbing still went up, from 14,400 meters in 2025 to 15,550.

Filippo Ganna won the time trial at 56.8 kilometers an hour, the fastest ever ridden in the race. The next day it rained on the gravel. Mathieu van der Poel, Isaac Del Toro and Giulio Pellizzari rode clear there, after Matteo Jorgenson slipped and crashed on Van der Poel's wheel, and Van der Poel won the sprint in San Gimignano. Del Toro, who led the three through the last 2 kilometers, took the leader's jersey with Pellizzari 3 seconds behind.

Van der Poel won again at Martinsicuro on stage 4, from a group of 14. Pellizzari was second, and the six bonus seconds put him in the lead by 2 seconds, with two stages on his home roads in the Marche to come. He kept it for one day. On the last climb to Mombaroccio Del Toro attacked three times, went clear with Jorgenson and took 19 seconds from Pellizzari. In front of them Michael Valgren won from the breakaway, his first victory in 1,639 days.

On the uphill finish at Camerino on stage 6 Pellizzari attacked in the last 3 kilometers. Del Toro closed the gap near the last kilometer and won the stage, the first Mexican to win one at Tirreno-Adriatico. On the last day Jorgenson, led out by Wout van Aert, took three bonus seconds at an intermediate sprint and moved past Pellizzari into second place overall. Jonathan Milan won the sprint in San Benedetto del Tronto for the third year running.
