Tour of Austria 2026: six stages through the Austrian Alps

Tour of Austria 2026 runs six stages across the Austrian Alps with summit finishes, a time trial, and sprint stages. Isaac Del Toro defends after winning in 2025.

The Tour of Austria is a well-established Alpine stage race that attracts strong fields outside the Tour de France window. Six stages across the Austrian Alps typically include two summit finishes on climbs averaging six to eight percent, a short time trial, and valley stages for sprinters.

Del Toro won in 2025, adding the Tour of Austria to a rapidly growing palmares. Ulissi won in 2024 and knows the Austrian terrain. The race rewards climbers who can recover across consecutive mountain days and riders willing to attack from breakaways when team depth is thinner than at WorldTour stage races. Weather can shift quickly at Alpine altitude, adding an unpredictable element.

2026 outlook

Tour of Austria 2026 runs six stages across the Austrian Alps in July, with summit finishes, time trials, and valley sprint stages creating a complete stage race. Isaac Del Toro won in 2025, following Diego Ulissi (2024) and Jhonatan Narvaez (2023). The race attracts riders not selected for the Tour de France, and the Alpine terrain provides genuine climbing difficulty. The GC is rarely settled before the final mountain stage.
