Tour of Chongming Island 2027 route overview
The island is almost entirely flat, with wide, straight roads and tight corners. Stages typically run between 100 and 130 kilometers, and the mountains classification is mostly contested on bridges, such as the Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge from neighboring Changxing Island. Most stages end in bunch sprints, with lead-out trains controlling the finale and GC contenders fighting for every bonus second at intermediate sprints and stage finishes, so the general classification is usually decided by bonus seconds rather than time gaps. A breakaway can still upset that. In 2018 a five-rider move finished more than a minute ahead of the bunch and gave Charlotte Becker the overall win, and in 2025 Anne Knijnenburg won the race by one second after a ten-rider attack in the last four kilometers of the final stage. The final stage has usually been a circuit race around Chongming New City Park.
