Tour of Oman 2027

In 2026 Baptiste Veistroffer took the red jersey on stage 2, the longest of the race at 191.4 kilometers. He rode away from his last two breakaway companions on a 900-meter wall and started the final climb to Yitti Hills with 45 seconds on the peloton, enough for a first professional win, alone.

A day later Mauro Schmid, who had won the Muscat Classic on the Friday before the race, took the jersey at Misfat Al Abriyeen, where he beat Christian Scaroni in the last few hundred meters of the climb. Adam Yates, the winner in 2024 and 2025, crashed six kilometers from the finish that day and rejoined the peloton.

The last stage went from Nizwa to Jabal al Akhdhar, the Green Mountain, a climb of 5.7 kilometers at 10.4 percent. Schmid started it in the lead, with Scaroni four seconds behind him and Yates at 32. On the climb Yates and then Nairo Quintana raised the pace, and Schmid was dropped. Six riders were left at the last kilometer. Luke Plapp attacked 500 meters from the line and was caught in the last 100 by Scaroni and his XDS Astana teammate Cristián Rodríguez, who finished first and second on the stage and in the final standings.

Scaroni said afterwards that Yates had dropped him by a few meters with 1.5 kilometers to go, and that he came back on Rodríguez's wheel before sprinting. Yates finished third overall, 44 seconds behind and on the same time as Schmid and Paul Double. It was the fourth overall win in Oman for the Astana team.
