Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta del Sol 2027 preview

The Vuelta a Andalucía 2027 runs from February 17 to 21. The organizer has not published the route or the start time.

Iván Romeo won the 2026 race, the 72nd, by seven seconds over Andreas Leknessund, his first overall win in a stage race. The gap between the two did not change after the second of the five stages.

That stage went from Torrox to Otura on February 19, and its breakaway formed on the Puerto de la Cabra, a first-category climb far from the finish. Romeo, Leknessund and Josh Burnett went over it in front, and on the Alto de la Malahá the three were down to the first two. Romeo attacked two kilometers from the finish, Leknessund could not go with him, and Romeo won at Otura by seven seconds, his first win of 2026. The next riders came in 54 seconds behind him.

Stages 3 and 4 ended in sprints, won by Milan Fretin at Lopera and Tom Crabbe at Pozoblanco. That left the last stage, from La Roda de Andalucía to Lucena, with two ascents of the Alto de la Primera Cruz close to the finish, where the race had been expected to be decided.

On the last climb Romeo kept his attention on Leknessund. That was when Tom Pidcock attacked: he was first over the top, 163 kilometers into the 167.8-kilometer stage, and rode alone to the finish, ten seconds ahead of Jan Christen and 12 ahead of the group with Romeo and Leknessund. Pidcock had started the day sixth overall, 52 seconds down, and the win moved him up to third, the same result as in 2025.
